Steve and Lizzie’s bio

After Steve and Lizzie successfully completed a Discipleship Training School with YWAM, they both met on a mobile team while serving the ‘Luis Palau Mission to London’ in 1984. After the Falkland War this passionate Argentinian Evangelist was invited by many Churches to preach for several weeks at Queen’s Park Rangers Stadium, London. His ministry impacted the City and there were thousands of commitments made at the altar call for Christ.

On the 28th July to 12th August 1984, Steve joined the YWAM outreach teams to the Los Angeles Summer Olympics. The motto of the games was to ‘Play a Part in History.’ During those few historic days medals were won and yet hearts were broken. But the Gospel of Christ was preached in and around the Memorial Coliseum and on the streets of the Hollywood Boulevard.

On his return from Los Angeles both Steve and Lizzie married in Ashford in Kent in December 1984 and went into full time work. Lizzie worked as a care worker for 10 years with Adults who had learning difficulties. Her clients were an inspiration to her as they battled to overcome their struggles. The staff were loyal, compassionate and worked as a team. Lizzie was encouraged to sing and play her guitar to the clients as they recognised her gift as a musician.

Steve worked in the steel construction industry for 19 years. He walked the ‘high steel beams’ alongside gangs of steel erectors who were erecting multi-storey steel framed buildings all over the UK. His work even took him as far away as Kathmandu, Nepal where he was assigned to repair and erect a 45 ton Satellite dish for the King of Nepal.

In Sept 1996 - May 1999 the Sheppard family moved to Regents Theological College in Nantwich, Cheshire. Steve successfully completed his Honours Degree in ‘Theology and Christian Ministry’ and then completed his MA in ‘Christian Approaches to Leadership’ at Sarum College 2013 - 2016 and received his MA with Distinction.

Both Lizzie and Steve have Pastored the Waters Edge Elim Church here in Poole, Dorset since December 2001. They have a Daughter and a Grandson.
